Some great companies to join!

I have collected some information on several great companies that have been successful for these ladies......all the companies listed the consultant has been with atleast one year. I will be starting out with info
about my own Spagirl Gourmet, and then I will list several other ones. If you have any questions for anyone contact them directly. Thank-You.

Spagirl Gourmet

I (Amanda Crawford) have been a rep for this great company since March 2007.  I am a mom of a 6 year old boy, and I have been married for 10 years.  I joined this company because I wanted to find healthier skincare and share it with others. The training is awesome and so are the owners.  The company was previously known as Spa Girl Parties and recently changed their name to fit better with what they offer their customers.....gourmet spa products.  There are No artificial colors, No mineral oil, No parabens, No DEA, No petroleum, No alcohol, No phthalates, No animal testing!  Spagirl Gourmet products are all made fresh upon ordering and Aloe-based......not water like most other bath & body products. We have a mineral make-up line coming out soon, also.

The start-up costs are pretty reasonable. We have 3 kits to choose from and the prices are $59.95, $135, or $195. For the largest kit you get over $420 worth of products for that price.  There are no monthly fees, no website fees, and no minimums to ever meet. There is a yearly fee of $59 to renew your membership with the company, but that's it.  You can review more information on my website under "About Spagirl Gourmet" http://www.spagirlamanda.com/ and can contact me at spagirl724@hotmail.com

Our lowest kits range from $20 up to $175.00 and the company is always providing special incentives for joining and special perks and discounts! Be sure to contact me for our current incentives.

Productive day!

Just got done photographing some family portraits for my friends.....we had a good time and I am editing right now.....love them!  I am always so excited to see how they can be edited that I start as soon as I walk in the door. I have an event for Spagirl Gourmet that I am leaving for in about 30 minutes......I hope lots of people come and my days goes smoothly. You never know what to expect at an event......sometimes they go great and other times they are a huge flop. I am so happy though it's only about 10 minutes from my house. Tonight we plan on kicking back and relaxing by going on a haunted hayride (if you call that relaxing....LOL).   Well, gotta cut the blog short today and get outta here!  Hope everyone has a nice weekend and stayed tuned for Monday's blog because I will be highlighting some great companies to join.

Lazy Day..........

Today is for sure a very lazy day.......cool, dreary, sleeping dogs around me.......yes, a very relaxing day.  I should be getting together my Spagirl Gourmet info and products for the Applefest event tomorrow, but I am so not motivated.  I have been working on getting my blog design changed and finally after 2 hours figured how to get the code unzipped......I am a very stubborn person and won't give up til I figure it out (well, most of the time).

Today is Friday!!! Lots of interesting things going on this weekend......doing family photographs for friends in the morning, Applefest all day, and then possible a haunted hayride tomorrow night with my mom and sister.  I still can't believe Halloween is next week........time sure does go faster everyday.  Being a WAHM doesn't really make time slow done like you might think it would. Being home you really do find productive things to do that you couldn't imagine having time to get done if you were gone all day everyday. I worked during tax season at an accounting office this year and boy was that tough. That was my first full time job since I quit when my son was born 6 years ago. (Before him I was working 20 or so hours of overtime each week and life was pretty simple)......BUT......once you have a child or children going back to work isn't easy by any means.  I worked 6 days a week full time at the accounting office and although it was nice to get out, I really missed getting those little moments in with my son......getting him off the bus, making him an after school snack, doing homework with him........I decided to NEVER work that many days a week again. Right now I am job hunting once again, but I am hoping for part time and something I really enjoy. I do photography and Spagirl parties on the side, but with my husband's job not paying him what he used to make and all bills that keep going up, it looks like I may have to enter the workplace once again for a little bit.

I am very excited about bringing this blog to all WAHM's.......you should not feel bad if you have to go back to work.......sometimes it's what you have to do make life easier for your family. It takes time to grow a business, so while you are working out of the house make sure you work that business at home so in the future you will be able to be a full time WAHM.

Networking

I wanted to start this day off with a list of great places to network online. I am still working on my blog with a list of great work-at-home jobs, but that will be sometime early next week. This list is one that I pass on to my own downline and some of these you may be familiar with......here goes.....

1. www.merchantcircle.com

2. http://groups.yahoo.com

3. www.craigslist.com

4. www.linkedin.com

5. www.wahmzone.com

6. www.wahm.com/forum

7. www.homepartysolution.com

8. www.cafemom.com

9. www.momchats.com

10. www.momstown.com

11. www.mops.org

12. www.myspace.com

13. www.poshmama.com

14. www.bridalocity.com (click on vendors for free listing)

15. www.thewahmmall.com

16. www.webs.com (create a free or paid website)

17. www.twitter.com

I hope these sites help you all out in the networking process......I wouldn't recommend joining all of them because they are only going to benefit you if you keep up with them.....no one can keep track of that many, so pick 5-6 places that you think will help you the most to grow your business. I found that Merchant Circle is a big one to get your google rating boosted fast!  Good luck and if you know of any other fantastic networking sites please comment.

Just another day

Well, some mornings life as a WAHM is pretty montaneous.....I feel as if I need to network every single morning first thing to start the day off right.  I do feel very blessed to have my business, but often not having anyone to talk to in the morning is tough. I am not complaining, but I definitely miss social interaction during the day.  I really do enjoy talking with the great ladies I met online a couple years ago when I started my networking/shopping group in yahoo WAHMSHOPPERSCLUB.  I feel as if I know these ladies now and it can be very therapeutic when I have a problem or need a suggestion on something. If you are going to be in direct sales and home a lot, you need some sort of network of people you can trust and talk to. I will be honest I actually applied for a job at Dunkin' Donuts last night.......could use the money and also the social interaction. With the economy being so bad right now my husband is not making as much as he was the past few years and I am struggling to get parties. The online sales are ok at times, but I really need to network locally more. I have an event this saturday at a church that I am hoping goes well.

Since I just woke up not long ago my brain is stalling and I need to wake up some......so, I will leave you with this:  "There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs." ~ Author unknown

Being a WAHM & the reality of it.......

Hi everyone my name is Amanda Crawford.....I got this idea to create WAHM blog that gives honest reality of what it takes and what it's really like to start a direct sales business. I have been an extreme networker and learned a lot these past few years. No matter what there is NO easy way to start a business.......you will have bad months, good months, slow months, ones you feel like giving up, ones you feel super motivated, ones you want to cry, and ones you feel like you are going somewhere. I really believe you CAN make it in the direct sales world........BUT (and a big BUT) you have to work at is REALLY hard and be very determined. Also, you must believe in what you are selling 100%!!! I researched just about every direct sales company out there when I picked my business.....Spa Girl Parties (now called Spagirl Gourmet). This company fit me and had products I loved. I know you will not be successful if you pick something just because the commission may be better than something you may have liked better. You also need to make sure it's not a scam......google is there for a reason.....use it! Google the company name and read every review on it. Don't feel afraid to contact a rep and ask questions before you sign up. I get calls all the time about Spagirl Gourmet.....and talking to the potential reps I give them all the answers they need to determine if this is right for them. I feel if someone does not sound like they want to do this I don't pressure them. It's not beneficial to me to have team members that don't want to work their business, and it's a huge waste of their money and time if I would push them into it. Also, don't be afraid to talk to various reps from that company to get different opinions and make sure your team leader will be there for you.

Taking the leap......When you finally take the leap and become an independent business owner you will feel like you have it all......not true! This is your beginning.....your real test of if you have what it takes to make it in this highly competitive world of direct sales. I started back in March 2007 with my company and I am still working to improve my networking skills. I must be getting better because the owner of the company had me on a conference call giving a presentation on great places to network online. I will also give these places in a future blog to you all. First, you must start off by believing in yourself, getting help from your up line, and getting business cards. Advertising is key to making it........you need to hand out catalogs, book a table at local vendor shows, bridal shows, hang business cards, flyers, ads in the newspaper, create a website, and network like mad.

Succeeding.......if you stay tuned to my blog I will be giving a lot of advice on networking and helping you make it in this harsh world of direct sales. I will even be getting a collection of ideas from other ladies that have been doing this for years and successful at their business. I will do the research and you can just come here to find what you need to make a decision. I know a lot of women that are in direct sales......so, my plan this week is to get a couple paragraphs from several on their business and what they offer. If you are looking for something these will be the ladies I know are awesome! I will only post opportunities from ladies I have personally dealt with and are good at what they do.

I look forwarding to sharing my ideas and getting your ideas daily! I will try to post once per day and let you know how my business is going and what sorts of events are working best for me. I hope you leave comments and suggestions!
